What are imaging results?

The true value of imaging is the information your doctor receives from your study, including the images and their interpretation by our radiologist. In order to promote efficient and timely care for you, we offer your doctor electronic access to your images, and strive to deliver reports as quickly as possible. Routine reports are usually delivered the same day or next day, and the radiologist will call your physician immediately if necessary.

How can I send previous films and reports to a new doctor?

With your written authorization, film copies, including mammograms, will be sent to your new physician. Your new physician’s office can do this for you with your written authorization. You may also pick up your films. You will need to fill out a release form at that time. You may have your films permanently transferred to another facility or to your own custody. In either case, you will need to sign a release authorization.

Will I know the results of my exam before I leave?

How will I find out about my breast biopsy results?

Radiology and pathology reports will be provided to your physician. Your physician will discuss your results and options with you. It is important to understand that the evaluation of the abnormality does not end with the biopsy. Clinical follow-up is essential for all patients. Depending on the results of the biopsy, other options may include follow-up mammography in six months, repeat core-needle breast biopsy, or surgical biopsy.

To ensure proper processing, please include the patient’s full name and account number on all payments. We accept checks, money orders, or major credit cards. When paying with a credit card, please be sure to also include the expiration date and your signature.

What is a radiologist?

A radiologist is a medical doctor who has chosen to specialize in the field of imaging for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. A radiologist completes four years of medical school, followed by a one-year internship and a four-year radiology residency. Radiologists interpret the images from your procedure and provide a report to give your physician a clearer picture of what is happening inside your body. As a division of Wichita Radiological Group, PA, our physicians are board certified or board eligible through the American College of Radiology (ACR) and breast imaging specialists are certified for breast imaging by the Food & Drug Administration.

What is a technologist?

A technologist is a person specially trained to operate the diagnostic imaging equipment and to position patients to achieve the clearest images possible. While technologists are not medical doctors, they do work closely with radiologists in reviewing patient histories, presenting current symptoms and preliminary films to the radiologist, and making sure all patients are as comfortable as possible.
